Meeting new people on Chitchat can be fun, unexpected, and sometimes surprisingly meaningful. But because you are chatting with people you do not already know, it is important to protect your privacy and use the safety tools available to you.
Here are a few simple ways to keep your Chitchat experience safer and more comfortable:
- Never share sensitive information. Avoid sharing private details such as your phone number, email, address, exact location, school, workplace, private social accounts, or other identifying details.
- Be careful with links. Do not click suspicious links or download files from people you meet on Chitchat.
- Watch out for scams. Be cautious if someone asks for money, gifts, payment information, or tries to move the conversation off Chitchat right away.
- Think before you share. Other users may screenshot, record, or save what you send or show, so only share what you are comfortable with.
- Don’t hesitate to report. Tap the report button if something feels off, and we'll take care of the rest.
- Trust your instincts. If something feels wrong, leave the chat or block the user.
Stay on Chitchat
Please keep your conversations inside the app or website. We can’t monitor what happens off-platform, and we may not be able to help if something goes wrong outside Azar.
To protect yourself, don’t share your contact info or social media accounts. And if you ever feel unsafe or threatened, please contact your local authorities.
If Someone Behaves Inappropriately
- We’ll blur the screen and prompt you to report. If something inappropriate is detected during a chat, our built-in tools will automatically blur the screen and guide you through the reporting process. Once that’s done, we’ll match you with someone new.
- We block users who behave inappropriately from matching again. Our detection system runs 24/7. If someone breaks the rules, we act quickly to restrict them from connecting with others again.
- You can still report after a chat ends. If you didn’t get a chance to report during the chat, don’t worry. If our system detects suspicious behavior, you’ll be prompted afterward to review your experience and submit a report.
