How do I avoid someone in matches?
Avoiding someone means Chitchat won't match you with them again. It's not just for people you didn't get along with. You can also avoid a friend from coming up in your random matches.
How to avoid someone
- Open their profile.
- Click the ••• button.
- Click Avoid, then Avoid again to confirm.
If you're chatting with them right now, the chat keeps going until one of you ends it. You won't be matched with them again after skipping.
You also have the option to avoid someone while blocking them. In the Block window, leave Also avoid in matches ticked.
What Avoid does
- You won't be matched again. It works both ways: it doesn't matter which of you avoided the other.
- They aren't told. Nothing tells them they're on your Avoid list.
- Friends and DMs stay as they are. If you're friends, you stay friends and can still message each other.
Avoid, Block or Report?
- Avoid if you don't want to be matched with someone again.
- Block if you don't want them to message you or send you friend requests. Blocking on its own doesn't stop you being matched, so tick Also avoid in matches if you want both.
- Report if someone broke our Community Guidelines. Avoiding someone doesn't report them. You can do both. See How do I report a user?
See or change your Avoid list
Go to Settings → Safety → Avoid list. You'll see everyone you've avoided and when. Click Unavoid next to someone to remove them, and you can be matched with them again.
How many people can I avoid?
- Your Avoid list holds up to 15 people, or 60 with Premium PLUS.
- When your list is full, unavoid someone to free a slot.
- If you use Avoid too quickly, you may have to wait a moment before trying again.
If your Premium PLUS ends, everyone on your list stays avoided. You just can't add anyone new until your list is back under 15.
Guest accounts
Guest accounts can't keep an Avoid list. Link a sign-in account to start avoiding people. See How do I verify my account? for the steps.
