What is account standing?

Your account standing shows whether your account is in good shape, and what happens if it isn't. You can check it anytime in Settings → Standing.

The five levels

  • All good: You have full access to Chitchat.
  • Warning: You broke a rule, but nothing is restricted. Another violation may limit your account.
  • Limited: Some features are turned off for a while.
  • At Risk: More than one limit is active, so most features are unavailable. Another violation may suspend your account.
  • Suspended: You can't use Chitchat because of serious or repeated violations.

What you'll see for each violation

Every active violation is listed under your standing, with:

  • What kind it is: a warning, a feature limit, a suspension or a ban.
  • Which rule it was for, and a short explanation of why.
  • What it means for your account right now.
  • The date it stops affecting your standing.

When you get a warning, you'll be asked to confirm you've read it by clicking Got it.

How to get back to "All good"

Most violations expire on their own. When one expires, your standing updates automatically and any features it limited come back. You don't need to do anything or contact us.

Some serious violations never expire. Those say This violation does not expire.

The best way to keep your standing clean is to follow our Community Guidelines. Breaking the rules again while a violation is still active can move you further along the scale.

Think we got it wrong?

If you believe a warning, limit or suspension was a mistake, you can ask us to review it. See How do I appeal my ban? for what to include.
